Standard KAVACH commissioned on Solapur–Wadi section of Central Railway
Central Railway's Solapur Division commissioned the "Standard" KAVACH Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system on the 149.476-km Solapur-Wadi route section
This is the first commissioning of the standardised KAVACH system anywhere in the Solapur Division
The rollout involved installing and programming 1,234 RFID (Radio-Frequency Identification) tags along the route for continuous train-to-track communication
Commissioning followed field trials and validation of head-on collision prevention, rear-end collision prevention and SOS-alert functions, conducted in compliance with Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) standards
KAVACH — India's Indigenous Automatic Train Protection System
KAVACH is an indigenously developed Automatic Train Protection (ATP) system that automatically applies brakes to prevent collisions if a loco pilot fails to respond to speed or signal restrictions, without relying on the driver's manual intervention. It was developed under RDSO, the Indian Railways' research and standards body, as part of India's push for self-reliant railway safety technology.
