India, Japan hold key dialogue to boost ties in defence industrial collaboration, cyber security
India and Japan held their 8th Defence Policy Dialogue in Tokyo, co-chaired at the Defence Secretary/Vice-Minister level.
Discussions covered deepening cooperation in defence industrial collaboration, cyber security, space and other emerging technology domains.
Both sides reaffirmed commitment to the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership and to a free, open, inclusive and rules-based Indo-Pacific.
The two sides also discussed likely outcomes of forthcoming ministerial-level engagements, including a future 2+2 (Foreign and Defence Ministers) dialogue.
India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership (2014)
India and Japan upgraded their bilateral relationship to a "Special Strategic and Global Partnership" during a 2014 summit between the two heads of government, marking the elevation of the relationship beyond the "Strategic and Global Partnership" status held since 2006.
