Bamboo's Unusual Flowering Biology and Legal Classification
Bamboo is botanically a grass (family Poaceae, subfamily Bambusoideae) but exhibits extremely rare, often synchronous, gregarious flowering at long intervals, followed by seed-set and mass die-off of the flowering cohort.
