India-New Zealand Free Trade Agreement (2026)
The India-New Zealand FTA was concluded in December 2025 after roughly nine months of negotiation — among the fastest-concluded FTAs by India — and formally signed on 27 April 2026. It substantially cuts tariffs on New Zealand's exports to India and includes an investment promotion commitment.
- The agreement eliminates or reduces tariffs on about 95% of New Zealand's exports to India; nearly 57% become duty-free immediately, rising to about 82% on full implementation.
- New Zealand committed to promoting private-sector investment of US$20 billion into India over 15 years; India agreed to set up a dedicated "New Zealand Investment Desk."
- The FTA will enter into force only after both countries complete domestic ratification procedures.
