Lipulekh Pass
Location and the 1954 Panchsheel Framework
Lipulekh Pass (about 5,334 metres) is a Himalayan pass in Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand, near the India-Nepal-China trijunction. Border trade through Lipulekh was first agreed under the 1954 Sino-Indian Agreement on Trade and Intercourse (the "Panchsheel Agreement"), and the pass reopened for trade in 1992 after a long suspension following the 1962 war. It also serves as one of the two principal routes (with Nathu La) for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra pilgrimage.
